Shai Shen-Orr is an Associate Prof. at the Faculty of Medicine at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where he heads the Systems Immunology & Precision Medicine laboratory since 2012. Prof. Shen-Orr is a world expert in Systems Immunology and his lab is focused on the development of novel analytics for studying the immune system—tools which he applies to study the drivers of immune variation and to further Immune-based Precision Medicine.
Prof. Shen-Orr received a BSc from the Technion in Information Systems (1999), an M.Sc. in Bioinformatics at the Weizmann Institute of Science (2002), a Ph.D. from Harvard University in Biochemistry (2007) and performed his postdoctoral studies at Stanford University. His research has been cited numerous times and has been featured in systems biology textbooks for students.
Prof. Shen-Orr’s research laid the foundation of CytoReason, a company building a cell-centered machine learning model of the immune-system, which it applies to further drug development in collaboration with leading pharma companies.
