Dr. Roni P. Dodiuk-Gad, MD

Dr. Dodiuk-Gad earned her M.D. degree and graduated Cum Laude from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at Technion, Israel in 2002, and received an award of excellence for her M.D. thesis. After completing her residency in Dermatology with excellence, she participated in a 3-year clinical fellowship followed by a 4-year research fellowship in ‘Advanced Medical Dermatology’ under the supervision of Professor Neil H. Shear in the Dermatology Division at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre at the University of Toronto, Canada. Dr. Roni P. Dodiuk-Gad is currently the Vice-Head of the Dermatology Department at Emek Medical Center in Israel, a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion Institute of Technology in Israel, and an Assistant Professor- status only appointment, in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Dodiuk-Gad is a global opinion leader on the topics of adverse cutaneous drug reactions and Darier disease. She mentors students and residents in both Israel and Canada and leads several research teams who focus specifically on these topics.  Dr. Dodiuk-Gad has major international professional and academic collaborations. She is currently a part of the leadership research team of international collaborative to plan and conduct a randomized controlled trial for the treatment of Stevens- Johnson Syndrome/Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis. That project was funded by a US NIH trial planning grant, and an additional grant from the NIH was received (2027 NATIENS: NIAID $2,509,648). Dr. Dodiuk-Gad is also greatly involved in the education of students and residents both in Israel and Canada; In August 2019, she established and became head of the International Telehealth Rounds in Dermatology (ITRD), which is delivered under the auspices of the Canada International Scientific Exchange Program.

Dr. Dodiuk-Gad published more than 40 manuscripts in leading journals of dermatology, 8 book chapters, and was co-editor of the first edition of the book “Advances in Diagnosis and Management of Cutaneous Adverse Drug Reactions: Current and Future Trends” by Springer-Nature in November 2018. Dr. Dodiuk-Gad received numerous academic grants and awards. She was also chosen by the Technion Alumni Association as one of the 40 most promising young graduates of the Technion Institute of Technology, Israel, in 2018. During Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Dodiuk-Gad successfully initiated and led an international platform for dermatologists to enable free knowledge transfer – International Dermatologists Fighting Coronavirus Together including around 700 dermatologists from 20 countries.
