Assaf Marom, MD PhD
Anatomy & Human Evolution Lab
Assaf Marom teaches anatomy and human evolution at the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion – Israel
Institute of Technology, which he joined after completing both his PhD and MD degrees at Tel-Aviv University (Israel)
and a post-doctoral fellowship at the Anthropological Institute and Museum (Zürich University, Switzerland). His lab
integrates macroscopic and microscopic medical imaging with a computational approach (e.g., geometric morphometrics;
finite-element analysis) to test hypotheses in comparative anatomy and paleoanthropology, in an attempt to provide
insight into how, why, and when modern humans acquired their uniqueness.
