Professor Itskovitz-Eldor’s research group explores various aspects of culture and differentiation of human embryonic stem cells. Special emphasis is given to optimization of culture methods and platform technologies, scale-up techniques and induced differentiation of the cells into endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, cardiomyocytes and insulin-secreting cells. The research performed also contributes to our understating of human developmental biology and aims at making significant steps towards human embryonic stem cell-based therapy. |
