M.Sc. Program

Admission Requirements:

Eligible students are those who completed a bachelor’s degree (three or four year) in departments related to Life Sciences. The applicants need to hold a minimum grade point average of 85% in their undergraduate studies. The applicant is expected to find a prospective advisor from the department’s staff, prior to registration. Forms of “Agreement to Serve as Advisor” are available at the departmental Office for Graduate Studies.

Study Requirements:

Applicants holding a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree with insufficient biological background, will be required to take complementary courses, the extent of which will be determined by the Faculty Graduate Studies Committee.

Research:

M.Sc. students will be required to carry out a research project under the direction of a faculty member (see clause 27 of Graduate School Regulations). M.Sc. students exhibiting particular excellence in their research and studies may be allowed to follow a direct track leading to a Ph.D. degree (see clause 24.07 of Graduate School Regulations).


Non-Thesis Track MSC Program in Genetic Consultation

The goal of this program is to provide the genetic consultant with updated knowledge in Medical Genetics, including: the molecular mechanisms of disease from the level of gene to protein, biological technologies for diagnostics and treatment of different diseases, evaluating risk of re-occurring genetic familial diseases and decoding results of diagnostic tests with relevant recommendations for intervention treatment.

Admission Requirements:

Eligible candidates are those holding a bachelor’s degree (three or four year) in departments related to Life Sciences. The applicants are required to hold a minimum grade point average of 85% in their BSc studies, and also those holding a Masters or a Doctorate degree in Life Sciences. Admission is subject to the recommendation of the Academic Committee of the Faculty of Medicine, and a personal interview.
