Background
and aim
While disease characteristics (phenotype) may be similar, the
underlying pathophysiologiy and genetic mechanisms may differ
from one person to another. These differences are relevant for
diagnosis and treatment.
Further, there is an ever-growing gap between the accumulating
knowledge and information and the busy clinical practitioners
who are responsible for treating the patient.
Thus, our aim is to narrow the gap between the Molecular and Medical
Information and the practitioner by supporting and encouraging
efforts for developing and implementing bed-side tools that will
assist physicians in obtaining on-line relevant and updated information
at the point of care. This will improve the quality of medicine
and will have an obvious clinical importance.
